Dr. Steven Herman holds several academic positions in prestigious institutions. He is an Associate Professor, Surgery at Hackensack Meridian Health School of Medicine at Seton Hall. Dr. Herman is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and SUNY-Downstate Medical School. He specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and performed the first minimally invasive video VAT Lobectomy in the New York City region.
Dr. Herman serves patients with lung cancer, complex lung and esophageal malignancies and carcinoid thoracic disease. Dr. Herman received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins and trained in surgery and thoracic surgery at NY Hospital/Cornell, and Memorial Sloan Kettering. Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center, he served as Chief Thoracic Surgery at SUNY-Downstate/LICH. Dr. Herman serves as the Co-Director of the Lung Cancer Screening and Nodule Program at Mountainside Medical Center.
